Dear Santa,
I know it’s been a while since I’ve written to you, but I’ve searched high and low for this one special thing that I just can’t seem to find. As I’ve gotten older I’ve begun to realize that the perfect one may not exist, but a girl can dream, can’t she? I’m hoping you can work your magic to make it happen for me this Christmas because there comes a point in every girl’s life when she just can’t keep settling anymore.
No, I’m not talking about a man. I’m talking about an email marketing platform.
The first thing my ideal email marketing platform would have is impressive reporting capabilities and visuals. Oh, how I’d love to be able to see email over email click rate progression over a period of time! Automatic reporting of engagement at different send times would be great to determine which send time works best for different segments. A dashboard-like layout showing a whole month’s data in an easy-to-digest and customizable fashion and being able to compare metrics between multiple campaigns would be a dream come true! And how have we gone so long without being able to track list growth over a set time period? Insanity!
If it wouldn’t be too much to ask, it would really make my holiday to have customizable automation and split testing abilities. For automations and workflows, it would just be the cat’s pyjamas to have easier segmentation when a new contact gets added to the system. Would it be possible to have more split-testing variables? Send time testing and holdout groups are sadly not offered by all existing platforms. Having additional metrics to determine split test winners (like areas clicked on the heatmap, time spent on email, number of scrolls, time spent on link, etc.) would be swell. And allowing for multiple splits (more than two) and real-time editing capabilities (after scheduling but before email gets pushed out) would really make my heart soar.
Santa, it would make my life so much easier if only I could find and replace customer profile characteristics and be able to mass edit their information for consistency. Why must I upload a CSV every single time I need to change one characteristic or trait in customer profiles? It would also be amazing to be able to see progressive reporting data on dynamic lists and segments!
How is it that we can send people to space, yet there are no existing email marketing platforms that offer expanded design capabilities? All I want is to be able to solve live text over image issues and incompatibility with dark mode, different screen and font sizes, etc. Oh, and how I wish I could be able to design emails for mobile and desktop separately - and have a default version if the program can’t determine what device my email is being viewed on. More customized drag-and-drop options in terms of moving things around, layering elements, adjusting sizes, hierarchy of text boxes, buttons and images would just be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I know it seems like an awful lot to ask for, but you have no idea how life-changing this gift would be. Not just for me, but for my entire office (and maybe even industry). I’m hoping you and your elves are up to the task. Santa, you’re my only hope.
